Somersworth, NH - A new website is being launched as a free service to those suffering from chronic pain.
The support forum will be moderated and maintained by PainCare, a leading medical practice in Somersworth, NH dedicated exclusively to pain management. Chronic pain is extremely debilitating, and isolating. The support forum enables patients with mobility issues to connect with others in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. Owner and CEO Dr. Michael J. O'Connell states, "Over the years we've put together various chronic pain support groups in-house, but for one reason or another, the support groups disbanded. We are very pleased to offer this opportunity for our patients to create a secure and safe support system where they can exchange information and share ideas." While many health sites exist that cover a broad range of categories, our focus is solely in helping to meet the needs of pain patients. Forum members will have access to up-to-date information as well as a supportive community. The relationship with PainCare will allow board certified pain management professionals to inject the expertise that other forums lack. The forum's goal is to encourage individuals to take control of their lives and participate actively in their own recovery process. Chronic pain generates over 100 million doctor visits each year and results in over 550 million annual work days lost. The total cost to the nation tops a staggering 65 billion dollars each year. The issue of chronic pain is complex and expensive, potentially affecting the physical, mental, social, economic, and spiritual well-being of the individual sufferer as well as his or her family members. It is well known that communication acts to decrease depression and anxiety and that living with chronic pain increases both. More subtle is the fact that depression and anxiety heighten our perception of pain. Supportive communication not only can lessen these feelings but can also help you learn to cope with the pain and lead a happy, meaningful life. By being in community with others, sharing your similar experiences, and educating yourself to learn better coping skills, you can take control of your pain and begin to improve the quality of your life. After a simple registration process, first-time visitors to NH PainTalk will be able to share their experiences and connect with other people who know exactly what they’re going through. Folks can listen in on what others are saying or make themselves heard by contributing to the message boards. Whether you live in our own beautiful state of New Hampshire or thousands of miles away, NH PainTalk invites you to explore the pain topics and discussions located in their Forums. |
