Initially developed to treat seizures in the 1960's, these drugs were soon recognized for their use in chronic pain management. Anticonvulsants have proven especially effective in pain relief for certain patients experiencing
neuropathic pain (RSD, CRPS's, diabetic neuropathy), migraines, and
trigeminal neuralgia, particularly if the pain is stabbing or burning.
