Anne: Migraines 50 years (post trial)
Anne wasn't nervous going into the trial. After 50 years of migraines, and trying every therapy under the sun, she was "incredibly relieved to find something that had such a high degree of success. I was happy that this was a procedure where you could have a trial before the [permanent implant]."

Dr. Greenspan: You've had migraines and cluster headaches for how many years?

Anne: About 50 years.

Dr. Greenspan: Over the decades, what kind of treatments have you had for your pain?

Anne: Medications - triptans - pain killers. I've tried all kinds of healing modalities, allopathic and naturopathic. I've used relaxation techniques. I have done yoga, I get regular exercise. I avoid migraine triggers; however, I can't avoid stress and stress is one of my triggers. I think I've tried everything out there with perhaps one exception.

Dr. Greenspan: Did you have any reservations going into the trial?

Anne: Not going into the trial... when I heard about this I was totally thrilled, because I had heard how successful it had been for people. And I was incredibly relieved to find something that had such a high amount of success. I was happy that this was a procedure that you can have a trial before the implantation.

Dr. Greenspan: How long before you started noticing results?

Anne: Right away - I started not having headaches... I didn't have any migraines for the first couple of weeks.

Dr. Greenspan: Did you find that if you interrupted the device, the migraines would come back?

Anne: Yes, there was a time when I had to have it off for several activities, my headaches came back.

Dr. Greenspan: What advice would you give someone who is sitting on the fence, who's been suffering with pain for a very long time?

Anne: "Don't sit on the fence! This procedure is wonderful. Please do it. Save yourself the suffering."

This procedure is performed by Dr. Joshua Greenspan at our Somersworth facility.
